Supply chain interview process is done to assess the candidate suitability for the job position. Once the CV is shortlisted and preliminary assessment done , conducting interview is the next step as part of selection process.

Most of the times if candidates are not selected, they wonder what had gone wrong as feedback is not easily available.

Key aspects that I look for in the candidates during supply chain interview is :
1. Work profile relevance to job requirement :
Roles and responsibilities should match the job requirement. It should reflect that rich and relevant work experience has been gained which will guarantee success in the applied position.
2. Supply chain knowledge:
Applicant should display good knowledge of supply chain basics like fundamentals of supply chain, procurement, planning, manufacturing and logistics. Inventory norms principles, demand and supply planning basics, end to procure to pay and order to cash process are some examples that display sound supply chain knowledge.
3. Specific and detailed supply chain answers :
Specific and detailed answers with insights and real life examples provide a good understanding of knowledge, wisdom and indepth experience. More detailed answers to simple questions is an opportunity for candidate to demonstrate strong grasp of the subject.
It reflects sincerity at work and that candidate has worked diligently and taken pain to gain rich experience rather than simply passing the time.
Workplace is not straightforward nowadays. There is complexity, ambiguity, not so well defined processes and sometimes broken execution. It is important to know to navigate this complexity and keeping your priorities right to deliver the results. It reflects productivity at work.

Sound understanding of how supply chain contributes to increase revenue, profitability and cash flow for the business. The type of efficiencies it brings in and how it can be a competitive advantage for the business.

How improvement is driven at workplace . Talent is hired to change status quo, resolve challenges and drive improvements. How have you led improvements to transform the organizations and made the difference every day by resolving problems and driving improvements.
Improvements are driven by living the work, get involved in daily operations, going in detail and be part of action and execution. It maybe uncomfortable initially but rewarding.
7. Approach to supply chain problems during supply chain interview :
I often gave candidates real life problems that are being faced in the current role and look out for their approach and solutions. It provides a good clarity on candidate potential and ability to think on the feet to solve supply chain problems.
8. System and process knowledge :
Proper understanding and hands on exposure of ERP systems- SAP etc is essential to set the right processes and resolve system related issues. This is an essential check during supply chain interview
