Understanding with speed implies Improving productivity by full understanding of situation, taking quick decisions and act with urgency.
Situation understanding is built by having good functional knowledge and understanding of various scenarios and possibilities which help you with a quick understanding of how things are.
Now how understanding can be improved ?
Understanding can be improved by doing the right Preparation as preparation is very important to improve productivity
You need to prepare for the task on which you have set your eyes on.
Preparation allows you to reduce time to act and allows you to take quick decisions and act with speed.
Purpose of all this is to act with speed. Tasks have to be completed at breakneck speed.
Nowadays, task list is huge and even after priority setting, there is long list to be done
So, Don’t procrastinate the activities. Try to finish them then and there and as soon as possible
Sharing a personal example of how productivity helped me to improve my performance
I was preparing for MBA examinations along with my job.
With full time job it was difficult to get the time to prepare for the exams and need to study on daily basis for the preparation.
But it was getting difficult to be productive
With long hours at work, keeping the focus and consistency was quite important and I was competing with the candidates who were studying full time.
So, how could I prepare better than them in much shorter time and answer to it was lying in productivity
I had to deliver more in less time and daily available time for me was three hours.
I was studying for three hours daily – one hour for each subject but was not able to complete one chapter on one day and gain sufficient depth.
I changed my approach and now started studying one subject for daily 3 hours and for full one week So, focus on one subject moved from 1 hour to 21 hours which improved my understanding with speed.
Following techniques helped me to accelerate understanding with speed :
1. Advanced Planning – I used to schedule one week in advance what I am going to achieve in next week and write it down on a weekly calendar. So, a week in advance I was clear that what I had to achieve.
2.Choose most productive Time – I chose the morning time from 6 AM to 8 AM. This was the time when nature was silent and no disturbance and I could be more focused. In the evening I chose 1 hour from 7 PM to 8 PM.
3. Focus: Do one thing at a time. I would choose one subject at a time and do it for the entire week to gain depth and reduce time to understand.
4. Execute the plan: Use power of will to execute the plan that you have set for yourself. Be disciplined in following your daily routine and positive approach.
5. Keeping Concentration: during those three hours versus the diluted focus for twelve hours. Results and output could be the same. which means with focused concentration you can deliver more results and output in less working hours.
This approach improved my understanding with speed and cleared my concepts wonderfully and I was able to crack MBA exam and got admission in one of the most prestigious institutes.
Focusing on one activity and completing it fully before moving to the next one is the holy grail to improve your understanding with speed.
